Transcript | NEW ORLEANS STA. [STATION?] [Postmark] Important Mrs. David Hay Ardcame Donamanagh [Dunnamanagh?] County Tyrone Ireland Feb 28th 1914 1225 MILAN STREET My dear Arthe yours of the 13th just received - I trust when this reaches you your dear little babies will have regained their usual good health - you will not be surprised to hear that John has obtained an absolute divorce from Liona - with the custody of both children - I have been through great anxiety for fear of a crazy notion might make her try to take them away which would have given me great sorrow – but thank God it is all settled. She told her lawyer that she left her children & husband on account of me - of course this is only a plausible excuse for everyone at home knows it to be a lie. I have shed some bitter tears over it all - for of course some people will believe it. But why she should have left her children to a woman she describes me is a mystery. Alicia has gone on a weeks trip to Cuba, she will make the round trip on the same boat. I do not know if she will see Ralph as his plantation is some distance from Havana & he is so busy at this time - but hope he could fix it to go. I do not hear anything more about the [Reeves?] except that Lemle sent some one to jail for taking dirt off from the lands & made them pay a good sum for it. I saw them the three thieves Lemle Wall & Armstrong lunching together & they looked the part of thieves conniving to rob someone. I spent a few days in Biloxi with Nola - [Balance?] went west on business – she seems to be getting over her grief at the baby's death. I hope you will find time to write soon as I always worry when I do not hear from you. We had a very stormy Mardi Gras - & Wednesday it snowed here for a couple of hours - quite a novel sight for N.O. [New Orleans?]. Love [a?] fond kiss to each & everyone & for yourself accept the love of Lautie |
