Transcript | Treasury Department, Confidential BUREAU OF THE MINT, Washington, D.C., November 9 1889. My dear Doctor: I am in receipt of a personal and urgent letter from Senator Cameron of Pennsylvania, requesting me to use my good offices with you in behalf of the appointment of Miss Kate A. Carrington, the daughter of an esteemed friend of his, Dr. Paul Carrington, in your mint. Senator Cameron states that this lady is the entire support of her father's family, owing to his disability from disease. It would afford me pleasure to approve the appointment of Miss Carrington, and I trust that you will find an early opportunity to give her employment. Respectfully yours, E. O. Leech Director of the Mint. Dr. Andrew W. Smyth, Superintendent, U.S. Mint, New Orleans, La. [Louisiana?] |
