Transcript | Caufield Dec. 4th 1893 Andrew Lowrie, Dear Uncle & all I suppose you think we had forgotten you but it was only neglect. We are all well hoping this finds you the same. We had a very wet spring and a dry summer and fine fall weather. The crops was not extra. The wheat crop was poor and prices low. Wheat is from 50 to 60c [cents?] a bushel. The hay crop was very good it brings from $6 to $6.50 a ton from the packers. Paw [Pa?] bought 105 acres of land last spring it laid along side of ours there is about 40 acres cleared only and the rest is wood. Grandmother is not so very smart she is up to Aunt Jane Knox's on a visit just now Aunt Jane Walker is just about the same as usual. I was in this morning and she was quite lively but she is failing fast. Aunt Martha Cranstons were all well the last we heard we have not seen any of them for a while. It is snowing tonight and it looks very much like winter. Paw has got his ploughing all finished but his days and then he will have 35 acres done. I will draw my letter to a close wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We all join in sending our love to You all Your Niece Maggie J. Lowrie P.S. You must not wait so long to answer my letter as I did for I will try and do better next time. Paw says he would like you to come over to Canada and see us all. |
