Transcript | Mr Andrew Lowry Argrey Raphoe Cy. [County?] Donegal Ireland Canfield Apr 19th 1892 Mr Andrew Lowry Dear Uncle I now take this opportunity of answering your kind letter. I would have written before but we was waiting to get our photos but we have never got away to get them yet. We are sorry to inform you that Grandfather is gone. He died on the 1st of April. He had the Imflamation [Inflammation?] on the Lungs and was sick two weeks. He was taken very bad at first. Aunt Ann Walker has been sick ever since the Funeral. She is better and able to sit up a little but keeps very weak and failing fast. Grandmother is not very smart. She had the LaGrippe awful bad and it left her very weak. She is over to Aunt Jame Knox's now she has got a young daughter Aunt Martha Cranston was here when Grandfather was sick. He was sensible all the time untill [until?] the last day but was very restless. Paw had to be with him all the time as he was quite helpless and could not talk good. He was over to Aunt Jane Knox's and to Aunt Martha Cranston's and was taken sick four days after he came home. He died trusting in God. Everything was done that could be done but he had to go. The weather has been cold and dry which makes spring backward. Paw [father?] has commenced his seeding today. You asked me to tell you all about myself #PAGE 2 and the rest. Well I am a big Irish girl and 5 ft 6 3/4 in. tall & stout as well. I have light hair blue eyes and they say I am good looking. I joined the Pres. [Presbyterian?] church when I was 12 years old and have been organist 2 years this May My sister is tall but very slim she has light hair and blue eyes too. She has had poor health for 2 years not able to go to school & she is quite a bit taller than my mother. My mother is 5 ft tall with dark hair and dark eyes has very good health My father if 6 ft tall dark hair and blue eyes and he looks like the Lowries. James McGaveran was at Grandfather's funeral and he said he looked like his uncle Andrew and Paw [father?] said you must be looking. We received your Photo and was very glad to see it and Grandfather was so pleased to see them. We will send ours just as soon as we can get away to get them. We hope this will find you all well. You must not wait as long as I did to write. We all join in sending our love to all. Your Niece Maggie J. Lowrie |
