Christie, B.A. Cable Address: "Harmale, Toronto" MALE & CHRISTIE Barristers, Solicitors, Notaries Public 601 Federal Building, 85 Richmond St. West TORONTO 2, CANADA August 21st, 1936. John A. Peel, Esq., Barrister, Etc., Armagh, NORTH IRELAND. Re: Mr. Joseph Steenson & house no. 27 Gates Avenue, Toronto, Ontario Dear Mr. Peel: I wrote you on May 14th (sic), in regard to this matter and as I did not hear from you, I wrote you again on July 13th. It is now August 21st and so I presume your long silence means that you are unwilling to act for me in this matter. I feel that the delay has been most unfortunate as Mr. Steenson wrote to Mr. Thompson here, stating that he was willing to execute the Assignment to my client. I hope the delay in attending to the matter at your end has not given Mr. Steenson an opportunity to change his mind. You are, of course, a stranger to me but Mr. Thompson spoke of you so highly that I felt that I could count on your co-operation. I asked Mr. Thompson to recommend some Solicitor doing business in your city and he told me I could not engage a better lawyer than yourself. It is, of course, possible that you have been ill or on a very extended trip but in such case, I would imagine that your clerk would have dropped me a line of explanation. What has to be done is very simple. It is simply a case of having the Assignment of Mortgage duly executed by Mr. Steenson and then forwarding same either to myself or to Mr. Thompson. If the document is sent to me directly, I would forward the monies agreed upon direct to you, or, if the document should be sent to Mr. Thompson, I would pay such monies over to him when he hands me the Assignment in duplicate. If you are unwilling to act, I hope you will do me the courtesy of returning my papers. I do not know what is the practice in Ireland in such matters, but if it is not improper for me to ask the favour, I will indeed appreciate a reply from you by return mail. Yours truly, W. H. Male W.
