Transcript | Chicago April 27th My Dear Mother I now after a long silence lift my pen to write you a few lines to let you know that we are all well at present hopeing [hoping?] these few lines will find you all ingoying [enjoying?] the same blessing Sam and William was up seeing me the other night and the [they?] are well and has made one trip Sams wife has got a young Son lately I have not seen Nancy since William from Nickey [Nicholas?] yesterday he is gone away this 2 weeks but he writes to me twice a week he went to sail the day, he wrote on his first trip in the Ada Madora the children had the whooping cough and the baby was so sick I did not think he would live but he is getting better now Maggie and Katie is going to School I was never seeing Nancy yet give my kind love to Margaret and all the family with kind love to you and all inquiring friends and I thank you for all your kindness and when William sends you a to say but I hope you are all well and may god bless you and prepear [prepare?] for a better land where I hope wee [we?] will all meet and part no more I never dream of you scarcely but I dream of father often but I allways [always?] think he is living and I am back in old Ireland some times I think great long and other times I don't think so much but this is a good country for making money but I would rather be at home good night [goodnight?] I remain your affectionate daughter Isabella Martin |
