Shaw Ballyfounder Co [County?] Down Ireland Dr [Dear?] Mother I recived [received?] your kind letter of recent date we are all living but I have had a great deal of sickness in of my famely [family?] this summer My second youngest a little gierl [girl?] has been sick this last 6 months first she took whooping cough and then measels [measles?] and then she took Inflamation [Inflammation?] of the lungs she can not live Nickey has been stopping at home for 5 Weeks to see her die Docter [Doctor?] says she cannot live and my babey [baby?] Is sick It had Whooping cough and then he took measels [measles?] and then he got Parelse'd [Paralysed?] Docter [Doctor?] thinks he may get Better Dear Mother I have had so much sickness in of my house I would have wrote sooner but I was Expecting Nelly to die Every day for the last 3 months Sam and famely [family?] is in good health and so Is William both Sam and William is in Chicago this day. I have not seen Nancey this last 2 months She was in good health at that time, I was glad to here [hear?] by Eliza letter that you were all living I receved [received?] her letter yestarday [yesterday?] And I will write as soon as there is a change In Nelley [Nelly?] to Elisa and Thank her for the lickness [likeness?] this has been a very warm Sumer [Summer?] here there Is a good Deal of Summer sickness here I will write to you as soon as a change Comes on the young ones Dear Mother you must Excuse my Tardiness of not Writing sooner hoping to here [hear?] from you all I remain you [your?] affectionate Daughter I.
