My Dear Mother
I recevied [received?]
your kind and welcom [welcome?] letter and
was glad to know that you were
all well we are all well at
present thank god for his goodness
to us little Nellie died the Oct [October?]
29th and she was 5 months sick
never able to walk from she took
sick she took the measleas [measles?] and
her lungs got bad both lungs
and for a long time I thought
she would die every day She
suffered a great deal but at
the last she did not seem
to suffer so much and she
died very easy she was a very
fine Child she was so kind and
affectionate but god saw better for
her you never saw any one more
spent she was all gone before
she died She was 2 years and
9 months and 13 days old I had a
letter wrote to send you before
she died and with the bother
I did not get it sent I will
send it in this the [they?] have all
done sailing for this season
the [they?] got there [their?] schooner all paid
for and Sam and William
is well Sam calls his son
John the [they?] like the schooner
well that the [they?] bought I heard
no word from Nancy since Nellie
died the [they?] were well then piper
and palmer is well and
Hestings is to go to se [see?] you
when he gos [goes?] home I do not
no [know?] much more to write
with kind love to Margaret
and family and all enquiring
friends and Mother I bid
you good by hoping this
will find you able to walk
about and may god bless and
spare you tell [till?] some of [one?] goes
home to see you yet and
I hope we will all meet in
heaven and I hope the Lord
will fit us all for it no
more but I remain your
