Transcript | Moore County Springfield Township June [torn] 1841 Dear Nephew I received your kind letter of [torn] last Which gave me Great sattisfaction [satisfaction?] to hear [torn] were all In Good health I [once?] more imbrace [embrace?] the [possible?] oppurtunity [opportunity?] of Writing to you to let you know that [torn] yet in the land of the living and that [--?] providence has [ordered?] my days to Good old age altho [although?] we are at a Great Distance [from?] each other & you may all reap the benefit of it you wish me in your last Account to let you know how the afair [affair?] of the Country Stands At present and we are fixted [fixed?] at present with A very heavey [heavy?] Drought which is causing our [----?] to [------?] at it appears very Discouraging [Canalling?] and all Such business is all a Stand our banks and all Such business is Going on bad and unless times allow it would not be right to Encourage any one to come here land is selling here from five to twenty five Dollars per acre We have been visited last winter and Spring with heavy feavor [Fever?] Which took off numbers of our Neighbours some of our family suffered in it [six?] weeks Namly [Namely?] Thomas But thanks be to God for his just mercys [mercies?] towards us he is recovering but is very weack [weak?] They were Seven Died out of one family in this Neighbourhood When you write to me please to let me know how brother Alexanders Family is and what they are doing please to let me know how brother George and sister Mary is or if they are living let me know Concerning Concerning brother John famely [family?] Dear Axnder [Alexander?] I am still Glad to hear from you a but it is not likely that Ever we will meet in this side of time but I hope We shall meet at Christs Right hand and that would be a joy full meeting pleas [please?] to let they friends know that James Watson and his wife came fifty miles riding in his Carrige [Carriage?] to [S---?] I add no more but remaine [remain?] your loving unkle [uncle?] till Death Thos [Thomas?] McCoy |
