Transcript | The underneath address, with a handsome piece of plate, was presented to Captain Maxwell, of the ship Riverdale, of this port, which sailed hence for Quebec on 7th June last:- " We, the undersigned cabin and steerage passengers of the ship Riverdale, from Belfast to Quebec, come forward, under a sense of gratitude, to return publicly our united thanks to Captain Henry Maxwell, for his strict attention and unwearied zeal in administering to our wants and comforts during the passage. His attention to us was more like that of a father than a master or commander, and to which we may greatly attribute the healthy state in which the passengers arrived. He has with us established his general character; and our fervent wish and prayer is that he may be spared long in the enjoyment of health to command the good ship Riverdale. (Signed) " SAMUEL ADAMS, " THOMAS PARK, " GEORGE ELLIOTT, " ROBERT DAVIS, &c. " Quebec, 25th July, 1848." |
