| Transcript | Oxley March 14th/70 [1870?] Dear Cousin, I have waited a long time hoping to have a letter from you, but all in vain, now I hope our correspondence is not going to drop so soon, therefore I would just remind you that you have a cousin in Oxley who would be very much pleased to hear from you. I returned from my visit in December & have remained at home all winter but I am going back to Fergus & Walherton in the spring. You know I was taking music lessons when I was away, so I must tell you how I [succeeded?] Well, I had a splendid teacher and learned every fact and I hope you will not think I am boasting too much when I tell you that I am now quite a "[?] performer". How have you spent this long dreary winter? Although I dare say the winters in Ireland are not near as cold and long as they are in America But this has been a most exceeding [exceedingly?] cold winter here. I have attended several very nice parties this winter. I like dancing very much. Do you ever try it? Of course the parties which I refer to are #PAGE 2 [?] company. I do not attend any others. Now I cannot write a long letter this time for you know you did not answer my last, at least if you did I never received it. I hope you will be kind enough to answer this and very soon too for I do as much want to hear from you. I [understand?] cousin Mary [?] has given up this idea of writing to me, for I never [heard?] from her, individually. [Mama remains?] pretty well this winter, and wishes to be kindly remembered to all her friends, also that you will send her all the news about her friends and old aquaintances [acquaintances?]. How I would like to take a trip to Ireland to see the fine country, - which I hear so many good accounts of and all my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends in general but never mind it might come to [pass?] Now I [will?] close for the present and will be better able to write a longer letter the next time when I received a letter from you.
