Transcript | St James Hotel Broadway N.Y. [New York?] 5th April 78. My dear Uncle I am sure you will be anxiously expecting the news of our safe arrival so I have determined to write you by the first mail, which leaves tomorrow. We had a good passage over excepting the Sunday following our departure from Ireland when we experienced very rough weather indeed & were very sick, but after that I was at most well (sic) throughout the passage poor Miss Fullerton was more or less sick all the way as for Papa nothing affects him in the way of heavy seas. I hope dear Auntie is quite well, Tell her I shall soon have an opportunity of giving Uncle John her kind present & delivering her good wishes along with it, for Papa telegraphed to Uncle yesterday & had a reply shortly after in which Uncle John asked Papa to meet him in Buffalo on Saturday as he was leaving Erie for that place Tonight, So here we are all alone in the great city of New York, Papa started a few minutes ago for Buffalo. We expect Papa & Uncle John here on Sunday morning You can scarcely form any idea of this last place unless you saw it & even then it baffles description There is a great variety of Magnif [magnificent?] ....
