Dear Uncle,
I received your very kind & welcome Letter in Due time. Mother and
all of us ware very glad to hear from you, cousin Mary & Husband and
familcy and that thay ware in good health. I beg to thank you for your
nice Letter and all your good wishes and am sorry I have not replyed to
it Sooner. I have been taking up in the business Since I seen you.
Mother has being getting pretty good health. She was able to go to
Mass good meney Sundays before Crismess but not able to go Since.
Her health varcys. Mary Ann keeps well. John keeps Strong and is going
on Very Niceiey in his business. Patrick & myself are quite well. We
receive Letters from Laurence from time to time. He has got a familey
growing up, 2 Sons working. He has got on better in Chicago laitley
than he has Since he went to America.
I am going on very well in my business. It is all ways rather quite
[quiet] in the beginning of the year. People here Seem to think this will
be a good year for Trade. I hope So and I hope Ireland will be more prosperious
this year. The people in Ireland are getting punished dredfull by
the Tory government and Bad Landlords but it is a long lane has no turn.
The time will come for the people in Ireland I hope Very Shortley.
Since I was in Ireland I have invested my money in Some property
in Hulme, a very nice block of nine houses & 2 shops. When I get all
straight I will have an Income clear of expence of £100 per year besides
my business. I have given £1360 for it.
Dear Uncle, I hope you Mary & Husband and all are injoying good
health. Write Soon when you receive this Letter. Mother and all goin in
Sending Love and best wishes. Remember me to Mr & Miss McGershin.
