Transcript | [in hand of Lilly Doorley] January 21 1879 Dear Maria I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I wrote that time after we got your leter and the money all safe and was very thankful to you and your husband for his kindness. When I got it I went over to the chiIdren in England. The times has got so bad in England. The work is very bad on account of the war. There was only kate earning she is in service and Bridget gets bad health she used to be very strong. That country might be beter for her. Lily was longing to here from you. She would like to go to that country and kate also. Lily says she would not know any of you would being a child when you were going. Dear Maria we have you and your husband likeness and baby framed. We have a likeness of your husband at the time of your marrige you sent one. I wrote to your sister Margaret and I have not got an answer from Her. It is so long since I heard I was thinking she was not in that place. Its [?as] for William I never heard a word from him. I did not think he would forget me. For your father I did not expect him to rite. For your aunt Bridget they never rote to me that could rite. Dear Maria I am ankious waiting for the return of your leter. You are the only one that never forgot me. The children says they will return you kindness when they go out there for they have made their minds up to go to that courty [country] with the help of got. We cant but be thankful to your husband for kindness. I remain your truly mother. I always pray for you and your family. |
