Dear Maria
I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I wrote that time
after we got your leter and the money all safe and was very thankful to
you and your husband for his kindness. When I got it I went over to the
chiIdren in England. The times has got so bad in England. The work is
very bad on account of the war. There was only kate earning she is in
service and Bridget gets bad health she used to be very strong. That country
might be beter for her. Lily was longing to here from you. She would like
to go to that country and kate also. Lily says she would not know any of
you would being a child when you were going. Dear Maria we have you
and your husband likeness and baby framed. We have a likeness of your
husband at the time of your marrige you sent one.
I wrote to your sister Margaret and I have not got an answer from
Her. It is so long since I heard I was thinking she was not in that place. Its
[?as] for William I never heard a word from him. I did not think he would
forget me. For your father I did not expect him to rite. For your aunt
Bridget they never rote to me that could rite.
Dear Maria I am ankious waiting for the return of your leter. You
are the only one that never forgot me. The children says they will return
you kindness when they go out there for they have made their minds up
to go to that courty [country] with the help of got. We cant but be thankful
to your husband for kindness.
I remain your truly mother.
I always pray for you and your family.
