My Dear Fathy
It is no wonder you would think I was long of writing to you. I was
wating for the Certificates every Mail that Kept me from writing to you. I
was very unhappy. I Kept my mind to myself as well as I could more upon
James McCuskers account than Elizas as James had paid his money. I am
thankful that you and all the Boys are well.
We are all well thank God at present. I am the worst my self. I am
Fataiged a little this hurrying harvest time. We have Finished the Sheaving
this Day and thre Stacks in. This has been a fine Summer here. We had Five
or Six Weeks of the warmest weath[er] we have had Since the year
that we puled the Coin in the year 1826. There is the best potatoes this
year there has been this many years past yet the are begining to rot a litle.
The Corn is light on account of the heat of the Summer. Flax is not as
Good as last year. Your Mother has Began to scutch after helping us to
Cut the Harvest. If you cannot do your own work within yourself in this
Country it will be undone. America and Australia has taken all that is of
any use.
I have sent the Forms to London. We expect them Back in a few
Days. We are preparing for Eliza as Fast as we can. Thomas Heaslip is
going to Sydney to his Brother Sam that is living with James Campell. We
expect that Eliza and James McCusker will be with him. He ha[s] sent his
last papers away . . .
