Transcript | 1874 Drumcullion May 22nd My Dear Fathy I received your Letter and the Advocate and a few Days after the Sorrowful News of Johns Death. He was a Few miles from Samuel Bleakley working in a Mill and when he Got ill he came to Sam and Annie Bleakley. It was Annie Bleakley that wrote to me. It was his leg that Broke out a little above where it was bad before. Annie Said there every thing was Done for him that Could be done. He had two Doctors and the Bishop of the Episcopal Church and plenty of Friends, the Creitons and Sam Bleakeley attended to him like Brothers. Anne Said he had a respectable Funeral and lamented By all that New him. I am Gratefull that he had any Friend or Neighbour to look to him in his last moments. Annie requested me to write to her and she would Send me all the particulars, she requested me not to grieve that John was Better off. That is all the account I have of how he was prepared to meet Death. My Dear Fathy you will write to ether Georg or Nixon as soon as this Goes to you. I have not much to say at present with regard to myself. I am in Good health thank God as I was Forty years ago But I am Becomeing Weak and Feeble. I have Cut the turf as usul this year and that the most of the time Barefooted on account of the Corns on my Feet. Your Mother and the Children are takeing the Best care the can of me. My life is usefull to them yet as it will make a great change with them when I am Gone. I am / am Grateful to God that I have been Kept to the present while so many has Been Called. Susan Keenan is much as usull but wearing Down. I have little more to Say to you my Dear Child. Prepare to meet at the right hand of God. You have my Prayers Day and Night. The Lord Be with you and with you all. I remain your affectionate Father to Death Wm Fiffe P.S. Virginia City Story County Neveda 8th Aprill John Died. |
