Transcript | 82 Grafton Street, Dublin, 21st June 1880. My Dear Father, I was up for examination for the last three days, and think I passed but the result won't be published for a day or two. I went in for the entrance examination on Tuesday, and was undecided whether I would try the other examination on Wednesday and Thursday, as if I tried it and missed it I would have to forfeit one half year's fee (£.8.8). A great many fellows told me not to try to save the year by risking the examination, as it is not every one that is able to do it, even after being with grinders; however, as the entrance gave me an idea of my chance of passing, I tried it and think I passed but can't say yet. You sent me £15.15 and £16.16, the former I paid for entrance examination and cap and gown, the latter for the second examination. I just met Robert Sherlock now who is after a tour on the Continent, and enquired particularly for you all. With best love to all. Your affectionate Son, Patk. McM. Glynn. |
