Transcript | "Glynneath" 11 June 1914 My dear Mother As the cable from the office announced, poor Eugene died at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, 8 June. I had left for Melbourne, but returned by same day's Express and reached Kapunda by motor in time for the Funeral at 2 p.m. It took place from the Catholic Church to the Cemetery at St Johns, about 4 miles from the town, and was a splendid tribute to his reputation for kindness to his old patients. At the moment I have just received a sympathetic letter from the Governor, Sir Henry Galway. Lady Galway was a Blennerhasset, a Catholic. Eugene died as you would wish, with thorough religious resignation and fortified with all the rites of the Church. Today I must return to Melbourne, but hope to have some particulars of his estate, and copies of his will and recent codicil sent you. But, of course, material matters are the last you or Agnes think of, except in the interests of others. I took Tom O'Donnell up with me. Jack and Bobbie Glynn were there. With Love to you and Agnes, I am Your affectionate son P McM Glynn |
