Transcript… & I should like to know how you are carrying on the war among
the girls and above all things keep clear of my perogitive let me know
if William Jellie has got the collar on yet. If I had him here I could
suit him all to nothing with a Half Cast wence a ducit sight better
looking girls than some of the dark looking woman you see at home
he would have plenty of room to work in and would not be pinched.
Whilst I think this is what he would require and as for James and Robert they are more for thinking about the crops and doing a big day's work than looking for the one thing needful. I foregathered with young
woman the other day just blooming fresh from home. A Miss Ringland from near Crossgar a niece of John Coulters, a regular
smasher I had just good mind to book her. Have you seen Miss Alexander
lately I wish you would just tell her that I am the same as usual
and not to get married before she lets me know but I shall speak to her
myself some of these days. In your last letter to James you mentioned
that Isabella was going to perpetrate the deed and you were going to
be at the wedding, I should like to hear that cleared up more satisfactory
you might let me know how some of my old flames round you is
getting on. Give my respects to Mrs Finlay and Miss Jane Mulholland.
if you see her…

(This appears, from the writing, to be from Hamilton Mcllrath)
