Transcript | Part of a letter from a doctor Originally From near Armoy, Co. Antrim & qualified at Queens. Living in Hamiliton City, Glenn Co. Cal. [California?]. Thought to be about 1890 so that a cable from you soon as you see uncle will give me just time to dispose of things to advantage. We have all kinds of friends here __ the rumour has gone around that I may leave & people are coming in all over the place to get fixed up __ I amputated a leg yesterday & have another big operation next week. I usually get in another railroad surgeon to help & share the responsibility & one of the factory boys gives chloroform _ such is life in the wild west. life in this quarter is on a par with a dogs Justice is hard to get. I am living with the judge of the District. He is canvassing for another term. comes home drunk every night. sometimes lies in the barn al [all?] night with the horse He has not a legal book in his possession.
