Monday Morning

My ever dearest Friend

I cannot tell you how [ ] for your dear children. I heard of [ ] dear
Atwoods dreadful calamity by [ ] note from Joan yesterday & hope [ ]
there was some mistake but [ ] in the evening I received dear Kate [ ]
letter & have thought of little [besides] since I read it. Kate mentioned
also that you had hurt your fingers badly. I trust it may not prove tedious
or very severe pain. Indeed these do seem most wretched times in many
ways. I grieve my dear dear friend to find you have had so much trouble,
but I trust whatever it may be that the worst may have passed over by
this time. I have much to say but my time is short as the Buggie is at the
door, but as Kate said you had a great deal of sewing on hand, both [ ]
Walter & Annie, & I wish you would send a bundle of it down to us. I am
myself always wanting some work & I am sure Bee & Kate will join me in
any spare moment.... Kates note said [ ] might be a probability of Annie
being with you. I am not sure if she is still at the Paiges, therefore my dear Mrs. Traill I will enclose to you $20 for her. It is but a mite but I hope I may have it in my power to contribute a little more sometimes hence as my means will I trust be improved, but just now I send what I can, hoping it may help. You were I think intending to get some clothing for them in Peterboro [ ] you can make use of part if you think it required & give the rest to dear Annie with my fondest love....
Dear friend, time passes quickly & I must make up & send this sad
scrawl such as it is.
With fondest love from Bee & Kate & myself to you & dear Kate &
Walter who I trust may get on happily. Believe me as ever your sincere &
faithfully attached friend,
Fr. Stewart.
Pray thank dear Kate for her letter & for the seeds.
