Transcript | 5 May 1853 Wm. [William?] Jno. [John?] C. Allen Esq 8 Wellington Place Belfast Fairview near Savannah 2d April 1853 My Dear Sir On the 25th ult. I sent to G.B. Cumming Savannah Ten Thousand Dollars of your funds for investment in Sterling exchange & requesting him to forward the first of the [-ct?] to you from Savannah. Very much to my satisfaction he has sent his own Bill at the lowest rate of [grand?] Bills and I now inclose you herein the second of the set [---?] Geo. B. Cumming Savannah 28 March 1853 at 60 Dft upon Messrs. Brown Shippley & Co. Liverpool payable to your [adv-?] in London for Eight hundred & twenty three Pounds & sixteen shillings sterling œ823.16.0. c. 9¬ pc [percent?] prem [premium?] = to $4.000.00.- As cotton since I wrote you was dull & drooping and as I thot [thought?] likely to go lower. I have held off. but will go into the market on Monday and purchase at the going prices. I have not found any Rail Road Stock for sale at 106$ tho' [although?] advertised for.
