| Transcript | D2723/1/18.   Letter from Samuel Smiley, Liverpool, Lancashire. to Thomas Smiley, Islandmagee, County Antrim. Liverpool August 24th 1854 Dear Brother The Riggers are Commenced Strip the "Lady" - The Cargo will be all out tomorrow. I am going to take Salt and passengers to New Orleans But it will be a fortnight I think before the Lady is ready I send the money to uncle to Moirow [tomorrow?] This leaves me in good health thank God, hoping this will find you all in good health I turned out this morning at 6 o'clock and came down on board and stoped [stopped?] to 8 I finds Mr. Mate [?] Coming down at half past seven and the rest of the Boys Coming between 7 and 8 - I told them they could not get down before that time that they might stop ashore, Mr. Mate Begs My pardon, and has other excuses But I told them to let me find any of them Came at that time again But I blame the mate for all there is nothing perticular [particular?] to let you now [know?], write and let me hear the nuse [news?].
