Transcript | To William Woodbridge, Barbadoes 4 July 1756 Sir: I am favoured with yours of the 13th past & observe the contents. Rum on an averige sells 15 per Cent higher here then in Philadelphia which occasions very large purchases to be made there for this Market. I am of opinion both it & Sugar will be in demand this Fall, as the quantity our Forces makes use of is very large. I will engage at any time to remit to London in Bills of Exchange or any goods that's to be got here in Fourteen Days after I receive any Cargoe of Rum & Sugar. You may consign me their neat proceeds. We are seldom without Vessels loading for London. The present Freight there is 40s per ton. Thomas Greg enterd into Partnership with me the 1st May last. Our Firm you have below. We beg leave to make you A tender of service here & to assure you of our readiness to render you every service in our Power. Our Bread & Flower is much preferable to what is shiped in Philadelphia, & we are able to sort out Cargoes much better from this then there. Pease, Indian Corn, Oats, Leaf Tobacco, Lumber of all sorts, & Pork are shiped here on very reasonable terms. Provisions bares now no fixed price, as there is a Prohibition, & when it will be taken off is uncertain. If there is a Prospect of making a Vessel on your trade answer, we will hold a third in her. What W. Cunningham has remitted short of the proceeds of the Hays is yet out standing. If he should recover it, which is very doubtfull, you may depend upon its being remitted immediately.
