| Transcript | To Joseph Chew, New London 7 July 1756 Sir: I have not had the pleasure to hear from you since I left New London. I hope before this comes to hand, Captain Nealson will be safe arrived, as by the best account I can larn, he may be expected every hour. You are on the Spot & able to judge how matters may be managed. I request you'l Leave nothing undone that may promise safety for his Vessal & Cargoe. The circumstances the trade is under is indeed very discouraging & gives me great reason to fear the[y] may begin to seize with you as they have done in other parts of your Province. My intire dependence is on your prudent & careful I management. Please to have the enclosed deliverd. For Godsake, dont neglect to keep the Boats out & to make them pursue the Vessel till they can come up with her. WC |
