Transcript | To John Scott & John McMichael, Philadelphia 16 August 1756 Dear Gentlemen: I am favoured with yours of the 12th Instant & have noted the Contents I am heartly sory you have so much trouble with the powder but hopes its over now. What of the paper wont sell with you send here by first Vessel & also the ozenbriggs, as you Import so much of both these Articles from London your Collector cant refuse to Clear them. If you have the goods McKey writes for, I would send them I look upon him to be safe, but I have not a better oppinion of his H____ then I had, tho I deal very largely with him, & only for this reason that I am Convinced no sober man in Albany or Schnectady can help Making money. I did not furnish Howells Account. He drew on me for the sum I received We must daly expect in French prizes with Indico on board, so would Choose you would push mine of[f] even at 5s per pound rather than keep it on hand. Try about 20 pounds of it at Vendue in a small bagg The fleet is below but have not heard the News by them. If any thing Extraordinary you shall be advised. I forward you Some letters by the stage. The one for Hamburgh pray enclose to your friend in London. Its an order for Insurance which makes me Anxious for its being forwarded speedily, WC P.S. Stewart, Child, & Dobbs are safe arrived. |
