Transcript | To John Gill, Albany 7 October 1756 Dear Sir: I am heartily sory for your loss at Oswego & must agree with you in opinion that it cant be very great if Mr. Jackson has acted prudently, for he ought not to keep money by him when the Army wanted it so much. I expect to be on A footing with all men you have dealt with since you went to Albany, & as I am sure that is your intention, I am Content. Many People say Mr. Kelly was concerned with you, but as I dont think this is the case, I shall defer mentioning more on that head, as I supose you have heard it from many others. I am A little surprized you should complain the yarn Stockings was dear When I sold them to others 3s per Dozen higher & had no complaint. Mrs. Alexander, William McMaster, Alexander McKay, & many others had the same sort from me. I never wanted money more. WC |
