Transcript | To Thomas Greg, Belfast 14 October 1756 Dear Sir: I wrote you by this oppertunity to which please be refered. This day bought A very Fine French Prize ship of about 350 Tons, will draw when loaded about Fifteen feet Walter. She cost £1,150. She wants very little to fit her out. I propose to set her up for Newry & makes no doubt to get her A full Ship. I am of opinion she will cary 1,300 Hogsheads of Flaxseed. Some people says she will cary 1,500 Hogsheads. I intend to call her the Waddell, & if my Brother returns, he goes Master of her. Pray get £400 Sterling Insured on her at & from this place to Newry from all risks, & £400 On her also at & from this place to Newry from all risks but the Enemy, which 1 think is but small at the time she will sail which will be about the 1st January. I would choose to have this Insurance made on receipt of this least any accident should happen her here. I propose to order Insurance on her Freight as soon as she begins to load, but this I think is best to have done from the danger of the Seas. I am affraid I wont be able lo raise money to pay for her in so short time as I must, so woud be glad you woud write Ada i r & Jackson to honour our Bills for £20010 £300 Sterling if I be obliged to draw which is uncertain.
