Transcript | To Thomas Greg, Belfast 6 December 1756 Dear Sir: Above you have Copy of what is intended to be deliverd you by Captain Brown. I was induced to take a part in this adventure from the Low price The Provisions costs and, from the advices I have from Ireland of a bad Crop, I think it has a very great prospect to do well. But Messrs. Scott & McMichael ships much more Flaxseed then Intended and less Wheat and Flower, which I now write them 10 alter if they can. We have been obliged to draw on William Snell & Co. for £200 Sterling favour of Messrs. Scott & McMichael at 40 days sight, which sum we have wrote Messrs. Snell & Co. to draw for on you when it falls due, with commissions and Postage. We were obliged to draw on these Gentlemen some time agoe £300 Sterling, which we wrote them we should remmit them from this and shall in a few days. As soon as we can get the Waddell away, you will be made very easy about remmittances from this. If you don't find Flax seed by the Sally has a prospect to answer with you, ship it to Derry early in the Season and have it Insured. I have yet no account from Jamaica of your Brigg Greg. WC [P.S.] Freight to Newry is broke at 22/9 per Hogshead. The Waddell will be full by the 15th Instant, the Johnson by the 20th Instant. 2 Copys Via Philadelphia |
