Transcript | To John Schaw, Sassafras River, Maryland 9 December 1756 Sir: We are this day favoured with yours of the 5th Instant to our WC. We shall have a particular regard to your directions about the sale of the Wheat. It must be stored, as at present the price of the best is but 4s/6d per Bushel. Agreeable to your desire, we have gott £540 Insurd on your Interest by the Ship Sharpe, cost per account. Inclosed £24.11.0 is to your debitt. We assure you we had very nigh being sloped geting your Insurance made by a report spread here that there is A very large sum Insured on this ship in Philadelphia, which makes many people suspect the Owners dis not intend to act honestly. We have informed Mr. Surlay of your directions to us to pay him your part proceeds of the Cargoe. He seems very much displeased at you, & we believe he has sent Captain Fairly to setle accounts with you. We shall do our utmost to recover your money from Captain Nicholson & have the Freight setled as it ought. G&C |
