| Transcript | Monday 14th (1847) [Monday July 14, 1847?] Dear Brother We are all well to the persn [person?] and bore with the journey thank God for his goodness. We are seventy miles from Derry since Saturday evening waiting to be inspected by the Government Agent all hands busy putin [putting?] the ship in sailing trim as the wind is fair expecting to sail this evening or tomorrow. We have the best ship that sailed from Derry and the best Capt. it is said by all that i have heard speak of her. Mr. Baird came with me from his office and took me through the ship and recommended a berth to me and sisters family Capt. Hancock his Agent spoke to him to do something for me as I was a decent man this was uncilicited [unsolicited?] he is a very nice man and treated me very kindly Mr and Miss Alexander recved [recieved?] us very kindly the evening we came to Derry and we stopped with until next evening. With respect to our Enniskillen agent Mr Primerose he has done everything agreeable to our wished and we will be benifited [benefited?] by his comeing [coming?] to Derry with us. I have seen a Sabbath Day past such as I never was all confusion and Drinking as the Capt. was not on board there was no regularrity [regularity?], a few assembled at 12 o'clock and a man gave out a him [hymn?] and a good many gathered together for singing and prayers soo [so?] we have people that fears God with us. We had not time to get all the things we wanted such as Buistcake spirits wine but I have reason to think the Captain has got orders to supply me at moderate terms. Derry has left us with lighter purses. Give my respects to Doctors Dane and Acheson you will likeway [likewise?] to Mr and Mrs Collum and to all my old Friends give repts [respects?] to Mr C.
