Transcript | To John Schaw, George Town, Maryland 1 January 1757 Sir: We are favoured with yours of the 5th & 18th past. Mr. Surloy looks upon your Letters to be positive orders to us to Sell your Wheat by Nicholson at the Market Price which we can by no means agree with him in but has agreed to deliver your Wheat to him on signing an obligation to the following Purport: If he produces A possitive order from you to us to sell at the then Market Price, that he is to account with us for it, agreeable thereto, &, if we cant agree about the price, that then Mr. Jacque Wall ton- is to fix it between us. If you dont choose to give this order, then he is to pay for us the Averige price we sell the remainder of the Cargoe for. By this means we save the great expense of storing which indeed would not be a trifle, as there is no stores in the place either fit or convenient for it, & obliges Mr. Surley, who is now Loading a Vessel for Madeira.5 Wheat now sells at 4s/0 to 4/6d per Bushel. Captain Nicholson is safe arrived. When we can serve you here command. |
