Transcript | To Capt. Charles Stewart of the ship Waddell 20 January 1757 Sir: You are to proceed for Newry first fair Wind &, as soon as you arrive there, forward A Packet you'l receive with this to Mr. Thomas Greg, Merchant in Belfast, & the other Letters for that place by an express before you apply to any Merchant there. You must receive directions from Mr. Greg who its to be, so that all you can do to' you hear from him is to Enter your Vessel & send down Lighters. You are in all things to be directed by Mr. Thomas Greg & write him, should you have the misfortune to put into any Port before you got to Newry. Incase you are taken, Ransom your Vessel & Cargoe for any sum not exceeding £2,000 Sterling. Mr. Greg will direct you how to setle your Ransom money, which is to be done before any part of the Cargoe is discharged. Now let us beg you for your own credit, as well as our Interest, to Leave off the Sluggard, to be active, carefull, & to keep A proper command. The moment you arrive in Newry, write Messrs.
