Transcript | Mr Cornelius Reardon N° 10 No 10 Oliver Street, Boston N. America Milltown 25th February 1841 My dear Children Your Letter of the 30th of December last arrived here before the first of this month and I am sure I need not say what pleasure it gave each of your family on hearing from it that ye were in good health. When your Letter arrived I was lying very ill, in consequence of some ulcer or very dangerous lump which I got on the Ribs. After some time it came to a supuration and discharged a considerable quantity of fetid matter. My recovery was much dreaded but at present I am well thank God. This will account for my delay in answering your letter, as I could not attempt it sooner. Your Mother and friends are all well. I have taken a good new Garden in addition to the redigging which I had. If can seed and till what I have I may say I would be happy against next Season. Mrs Fleming will be going this season early. She carry ye a good supply of socks. She desires to give ye her best respects. John Ginna (Mrs Ginna's Brother =inlaw) with his Wife and family are prepared to go over with some other neighbours. Kitty Keting of Tralee begs of you enquire for her Brother, Uncle and Sister. They are somewhere about ye. Father OFlaherty knows them well. If you can send us word how they are situated and if they are worth anything. Michl desires to let Jeffrey know that he spent 7 weeks ploughing at Curoglas and never met with greater kindness. Let me know if Mary Leahy is doing well and ifJude has any servant maid. I think if I lived as long as my uncle John Flahiv who died in December last aged 102 years, I never will leave this life until I see you here. Tell me if Con and Jude enjoy good health and how each of you is at present. Your Brother John has a Daughter called Jude. Every one of the Boys is in the state ye left them and they join me in sending ye our love and blessing I am, dear children, your affectionate father James Prendergast P.S. I desired Roger Sheehy Write to his Daughter Mrs Ginna. He and family are all well but they have no account of his son Michl. |
