Transcript | To Mr Comeilus Riordan N° 22 Atkinsons Street Mass Boston America Bleach road Milltown Feby 27th 44 Dear children, Through this post office I received your letter directed to my son Michael which letter I had no knowledge of or that he ever wrote to ye and indeed he had no occasion to apply in that kind of way for he is very comfortable at home. I received that much information by open ing his letter for he never told me that he wrote to you. I am glad thro that that ye all enjoy a good share of health as we do thanks be to god. Still at the same time I do not intend to put any hindrance that ye may send him what ye please tho he has no need of it. Be assured I frequently answered your letters and my reason for coming by his letter thinking it may be directed to him as it was to Jerry Connor Publican of this town as ye may think that old age may have sent us to our graves. Dear children I received three letters from you one dated September 15th 1843 one November 14th 43 and the other November 30th of which I answered. I now beg to inform you that each of your money letters cost me some trouble except the order on the Tralee bank I had no trouble or expense. I hope Dear children that ye have no blame to me. I always answered each of your letters and I would be glad to know if ye received any of them or not that I may know from the general post office of this kingdom what became of them. So I expect that on receipt of this letter write to me as quick as possible. There is one thing I expect that any more letters written by this Patt Mahony will not be answered; with his constant trash about his friend over, for he played a great trick in advising my son to trouble you contrary to my knowledge when he had no need. I can tell you whenever this Mahony wrote for me I paid very well therefore I am under no compliment to the poor pedagogue. I can inform you that John Quart received 6£ from his daughter. I can also inform you fearing that some fraud might be practiced regarding those letters I changed in putting this letter in Milltown post of office that it may arrive with ye into the killarny post office. In Futher direct your letter to your Father and send no news papers to his Reverence. I have to inform you that John Thos Eagar died in the north and Rathpogue is now in the hands of the Godfrey family. I remain your attached and loving Father Juliana Pendergast and Con Riordan your husband likwise Jeffry and Thomas James Prenderg^as^ |
