| Transcript | Lisburn 1 mo 17th 1828 My dear sister Susanna has very nearly filled this letter & left me very little room and I had intended writing thee a pretty long letter. However thee must be doing with it & take the will for the deed. It gave me much pleasure to find by thy truly acceptable letter that thee is more contented & likes the country better, as it will add so much to thy own comfort. I still live in ... as she had been so often laid up after so much existence as she does have there. They see so much company, more than anyone in Carlow I blieve. Sam Haughton is still alive but it is not expected that he can hold out much longer. We would all be very glad that thee would write oftener and please to say more particularly how you are fixed and the children - how they are getting on, as we do be very anxious about all that concerns you. My father intends putting Vi a soverign under the seal of this; I am sure I hope it may go safe as it will pay the postage. Wm is better than he was a few weeks ago, though he coughs a good deal still. But I expect with care that he will yet be finely. My [father] continues finely considering his age. He still attends to the shop - wh ... as well as we expected though a good deal less than we had been ... The friends here are very kind and attentive to us. Both far ... are well. Susanna & Sally intend opening shop in Belfast ... [There] is some talk of Maria [Lamb] & Win Webb going to be Married ... [don't] ... know whether there is any truth in it or not. He. lives ... now & lodges with her brother John. He is in ... business & is doing very well. I see ... Thomas Sinton is still in Ballitore ... and I blieve is pretty steady now ... paying us a visit next summer. We find it very pleasant ... so near us. We are very regular attenders - the friends in ... are all real orthodox and we have no dissensions amongst us which ... I was pleased to heat that you were so also. Cousin Wm & Peggy [Pike] … Cousin Peggy applied for membership some time ago & was received, as was ... and I blieve Jonathon. Both Derry Vale and Beech Grove are very much improved ... saw them. James Garraci lives with his Uncle & Aunt now & has Borax Mills ... Win Garratt & Mary lives in Belfast & keeps a linen warehouse there & are ... [ The] Dree Hill family are all well & Anna Johnson has two very fine sons & great... [Lucy] Calvert pretty often when in Belfast, she & James ... they have a large ... I was in Moyallon some time ago and Sally Dawson and ... but like myself no sign of any of them getting married ... and Bess & Sally. Aunt Debby was very poorly a few ... Uncle George live as happy as it is possible ... so often as I used when we lived in Armagh ... Thomas & John who generally stay a night ... |
