Transcript | Buffalo 6 mo 17th 1839 My dear Cousin Thou will be surprised to have a line from me in this place but must tell the[e] that I have been placed on a Committee to visit the poor Indians and have got thus far through. I have my son Thomas with me and I hope that your habitation may be so situated so that we can say how-do at least. In the course of our tour we have had occasion to soil of course some of our cloathes and as I also find that we brought too many with us, I have concluded to put in a bundle for thou that I suppose might probably be useful in some way or other; if not, thou must excuse me. I have frequently letters from our friends in the North: the last accounts, they were generally well. Thy sister Jane had greatly improved. I am called off to Breakfast: must therefore say farewell with regards to all thy family Thy afft cousin The following articles are put up in a towel and are as follows 3 old Linen shirts, 1 cotten do. 1 pr worsted socks 1 silk Hkfs 1 pr drawers 1 towel The above I hope will reach thee in safety. I shall include them in a paper parcel if I can. If thou wish to write thy friends at any time, send thy letters to me and they shall be forwarded. William O'Brien Cataragus |
