| Transcript | From: Pittsburgh Date: 10 December 1879 My Dear Brothers, Patrick and Barney, Your nice letter, Dear Barney, I received and was so pleased to see it that I gave you a bushelful of hugs in imagination. My Dear little Pet Pam would be so glad to see you and home and brothers and all my dear ones, if it is to be, which I hope it may. I am very happy here. They are good, and a kind home and a nice home. I never felt as well in my life as I do at present, and have for the last six weeks. Every person says they would not recognise me as the miserable looking thin ghost of the summer. I will have some pictures taken about the holidays and send you one. Dear Brother Eddie is quite well. He is over to see me every week and looks so nice. I am very fond of Eddie. I am glad Mike is so good a brother to you and Pebby. I hope you will be a good, obedient little boy to him and dear Mama and Papa, and saucy Miss Nell I expect, as she is the only young lady of the house now. She puts on a good many airs. Tell her I will fix her when I go as I have lots of beans here, and I will lake a few of hers. My Dear Barney, I send you and Patrick a pound each to buy yourselves something nice for Xmas. Eddy will send some to Mike and John, and Katherine will send to Mother, Father and Nell, so that my dears, you will have a little for to spend as you like. And don't forget old Pam who is as jolly as ever. When I am well off you can have a saddle for your donkey. I think Pebby doesn't deserve any as he did not answer my letter. I hope you will enjoy it.
