| Transcript | Dr. [Dear?] Robert and Jane: I take this oppertunity [opportunity?] of writing to you, to let you know that me and my wife are Both in good health at present, thank God for it, hope this will find you and your wife in the same. Your father-in-law is in a very Poor State of Health this long time and apears [apperas?] not to get aney [any?] better, my wife and me, we are both very much surprised that you never send us a letter to let us Know how you and your family are we have very hard times here at present, for all poor people, provession [provision?] of every sort is very high and Cloth and yarn is remarkebly [remarkably?] cheap as I ever saw it and no word of it getting aney [any?] better, you could buy good ten hundred webs for 10 per yard, and every other sort in the same Proportion, so that its very hard on some people at this time to make aney [any?] sort of living here. Old James Neighboney is dead three years ago and Andrew Cuffs Daughter, pegy [Peggy?], is dead about one year ago, and old William McKellvy, 1 year ago. Alexander McKellvey and John Gowrley. Both of them Rase [raise?] sory [sorry?] families of them on Chiloes. Your father-in-law and mine (John Gordon) have maid [made?] some great Bargains since you Left this country, he haise [has?] built three great houses in Killileagh and [ra?]ise, the white Gate field which you ust [used?] to have at 50 per acre for 31 years and three lives and Peggy Cuffey was one of the three lives. When you receive this, I will Expect an answer from you Immedatly [immediately?] and its allowed to be a good Bargan [bargain?] and I am your ever well wishing friend and your Humble servant.
