| Transcript | Five new members are added to our community since we came here, two of whom are already professed. We would have many more if we only had room to receive them. But I hope that ‘ere long our houseroom will be enlarged. We have to erect a high altar and eight small ones in our own church, and four small ones in the secular church. What the large altar will cost I cannot say, but each of the small ones will cost ^20, and some pious persons have already volunteered to purchase each one at his own expence. About eight thousand pounds of a debt is at present on us, which, of course, we must try to pay off. Besides, we expect the necessary funds to continue & complete our work. We are yet sending out cards, but I must say they are not coming in so plenty as we expected, owing, of course, in a great measure to the present state of Ireland, which you know already. Hitherto you have all been most kind to us, but take care not to trespass on your means too far, lest you might incur some pecuniary difficulties; at the same time whenever you subscribe you are doing a most meritorious act. If you can find out any pious persons who might be willing to assist us, I am sure you won't be wanting in advocating out cause. Nevertheless I leave you free. I heard nothing from James since.
