| Transcript | Fredericton Aug 23. 1830 Dear Rob’t I received your letter dated 9th Inst. it remained some days in my Brother’s hands before I got it. I have gone twelve miles up the country and agreed with a scotch man at 18[S ] week and found in all things wanting, my Brother James remains here. I can like this country very well its a very healthy place affords plenty of the produce of this land, the people very pleasing, it is a religious place, I intend to stop here for winter, James has taken the mason work of a new Preaching house or chappel here, — I have not heard yet from my Father since I left him, a Mrs. Hewston must feel very unhappy at her disappointment, for I saw her uneasiness of mind before I came away, remember me to your family and sisters when you shall see them - James Lee whom you enquired for has arrived in St. Johns on the 12th of June last and settled there, he has got the care of a school at 75£ a year and is singing Master there also, what his gains is more I cannot say. Dear Rob’t I would be very much obliged to you if you would let me know if your part of this country is better to settle in than this, the soil here is very good but the plenty of fish you have is not here. I intend to settle in this country but has not made up my mind yet what place it is easy to settle or get land in this country, our markets here are verry good for to make sale of any good you should have. I expect an answer from my Father every day any acc’t I shall here from your sister I will let you know by the next opportunity.
