Transcript | John Justice, Philadelphia, to Mathew Carey, Philadelphia, no date [1789– 1793] The petition of John Justice a Native of Ireland, Humbly Sheweth That poor petitioner is under the necessity of imploring relief, The case is as follows That petitioner being brought over here by a Gentleman from Cork, and meant to do for me as I understood, <but> when we came here he told me he had no further occasion of me, and desired me to go and provide for myself, which accordingly I was obliged to do, which I thought very hard after his promise to me before we came away, Now I am left here without either friend or Relation house or home, nor no place of residence, Your goodness on this occasion to help me to some little employment for a livelihood shall be ever Remembered, And poor petitioner shall for ever Pray John Justice |
