My dear Mrs. Smythe [Smyth?]: I have your favor of the 8th with sheets taken from Mr. Rainold's report which I have taken the liberty of copying so that I may return them herewith to you. The description in these papers is exceedingly vague and indefinite but I have no doubt we will be able to obtain copies of the patents under which these lands were granted, which will clear up matters to some extent and enable us to undertake the actual survey.
