Essex, Mar 19 [sic]

Dear Father, I see you got the
information, Well I would not
care for any such expenditure
as therein stated, I suppose
pay all those fees mentioned and
pay your board besides,
It would take me four
years yet to get B.A. to my
name in Toronto University,
as far as speech is concerned
I was always noted for having
to [too?] much to say, but whether
I could speak in that line, I
don't know. I think some of
the boarders in this house think
I can do my share of talking

It would take one to be a good
layer [lawyer?] in this Country to be a
sucess [success?] as they are numerous,
but I don't think the cost is as
much. Anyhow I just wanted
to know the conditions there.
I was thinking about civil
engineering but I don't know
what kind of a paying job
it is, at any rate I shall leave
school for a few years and
earn some money, and by
that time I shall know what I
would like best and whether
I would rather be a farmer or in
some other business.
