Straughroy
29th December 1891

Dear Cousin James

As I now
take the pleasure of answering
your last letter you must
excuse me for not writing
sooner as I had not much
time working for christmas
What kind of a christmas
had you. I suppose you
had a good one

[Page 2]
we had a very lonely one
here there were none of us
down at Eden this time
but I heard Archie and
his wife was there. I suppose
you heard of him getting
married he was married
on the 3rd December and he had
no one with him but the
Rev. William Duncan we
never heard it till the day
before he was going to be
married it was Uncle Archie
wrote and told us

[Page 3]
do you remember the fun
we had last Christmas
at your house. I did not
hear any word from that
side this long time. Dear
James we received the pictures
all right and we are very
thankful to you in not
forgetting to send us one
You look extremely well and
tell Uncle William that my
mother says she knew him
not the moment she saw them.
Who is the other young man
that is standing beside you?
is it your cousin [sic] husband
and is the one that is laughing
Sarah Anne Duncan?

[Page 4]
You asked me a good while ago
to write to cousin Bella but I
could not get myself gathered
together to write to her but I
will some day. I have not
much news to tell you this
time so I must conclude by
wishing a prosperous and
happy New Year. I still
remain your fond cousin
Lizzie Duncan
