Friday evg [evening?]
3 oclock

Dear Brother
As Father left this
bit of paper I think I could
manage some news to tell
you let it be interesting or not
You think we should write
Oftener (sic) true. I suppose but one
day passes and another very fast
I say I have not time Mary
says something else and Bella
always writes John would write
often if he was at home but he
has not much time on Sunday
as he goes to see the girls the
way you done (sic) yourself untill
[until?] 9 oclock so you will give
us a fools [fool s?] pardon

[Page 8]
Mary McKnight is for America
on 6 October and I beleive [believe?]
Annie McKernan this last one is a
secret no one knows except two
or three I think she would be well
away as she never goes no road
I have not seen her this last
three years Young Robert is getting
great Blame from the Catholics
if you remember Biddy (the Binder)
that is the girl Protestants don t [don t]
think he is guilty Matthew Smyth
is near better very uneasy about
the Gordons [Gordon s?] girls as he did not get
over since June I think if you come
home next year you will hardly know
half the folks about this place
I wish you would send Mary word
to go to some business as she does
not like home work I will give you more
news next time
