[Page 1] So [South?] Woodslee Sept, 6th 1899 Dear Jim - Perhaps you will be a little surprized at receiving this letter so. soon after seeing you. I expected to see you down at the depot before I left. and intended to ask you to write me. but you failed to come before train left. so I am writing you. for I do not forget the first few days I spent in Windsor. They were rather lonesome and I was very glad to hear from anybody. I suppose by this time you have entered into the realities of Model School and I presume fairly in love with it. I want you to write and tell me all about the start - How you like Chisholm? and who all is there Etc? I saw Will Hanes [Haynes?] to-day and he told (over) [Page 2] McKee [sic] was going to Model. I could scarcely credit it. When I got back to Essex that evening a big crowd awaited the trains. Miss Kirkwood was expected and she was the drawing card, but when the mail arrived Miss Kirkwood was among those who had missed the train, and in her place a telegram came announcing that fact and further that she would be on the – 10 'oclock that night. The crowd scattered, disappointed. Mr Keith, however, did come Now Jim don’t loose your heart to Miss [Took?] or any of your teachers and when they criticize you don’t get angry for you will find that they are right. Have you seen any of those Windsor girls yet. Remember me to all. and don’t forget to write soon H. M. Cooke [Written along side of Page 2] Tell me where you got a boarding house.
