Transcript | [August 25th, 1805?] Dear Mary, I hear that you fell asleep in the Chaise and bruised the gooseberries. Ours are near done. I suppose you are quite spoiled riding in Lord Londonderry's coach. I think if Mrs Musgrave heard it she would keep it up. She was out here tother [the other?] day and never once asked for either of you till my mother spoke of you. She took care to give her no room to remark. In my opinion when people have nothing to talk about but their neighbours they should hold their tongue. Your [you?] were in great luch [luck?] to get both to the play and the [?]. It may be something to talk about when you are an old woman. I was at Hillhall with my mo [mother?]. Then last night the old cock pigeon has brought home the prettiest wife you ever saw. She is all white with one brown feather on her back. The masons will be out here tomorrow to build the cave house and put a new gate on the yard. I am yours, J. [James?] Craig.
