| Transcript | My dear Mother, We got here very safe about half after eight. We found Mrs. Sharman worse than we expected. She was very glad to see us, and had been thinking great long for us since Thursday. She was a little better yesterday, but had a very bad night last night. She had not so severe an attack of the gout these many years, and is very ill with other complaints besides it. Her hand and leg are very much swelled. The day before yesterday she gave us fine tamboured muslin for frocks, it is a running pattern, and lace to trim tuckers. and cotton for work-bags. The lace I believe is the same as the yard you bought last, only a good deal broader, we will make the frocks ourselves. There was a Mrs. Hughes here yesterday evening, the Mr. Sharmans and we conveyed her the lenght [length?] of Cottraw. She is Mrs. Kennedy's Mother. We read French every day, and say two of the verbs. Mary draws a little. Mrs. Sharman will be very glad to see my Father on Wednesday. Mr. Sharman cut our hair the other day. We sleep in a very pleasant room, one window looks front, the other to the road. I hope Mr. Malcolm will bring me a letter from you or my Father if he goes to Hill Hall [Hillhall?], but you can ask some of the family on Sunday. I hope you don't think long.
