Transcript | Mr Andrew Lowry Sr Argrey Ballindrait Strabane Ireland Tapleytown Jan/13/91 [1891?] Dear Uncle Aunt and all I must apologise for not making a repley [reply?] sooner, as I find it is over two months since I last heard from Ireland. Never the less it's better late than never. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We had rather a dull Christmas, but had a pleasant time New Years, although the weather was very dull, raining all the day and part of the night. We had a dinner, Grandfather and Grandmother Lowry and Uncle Kirk and Family and Aunt Jane Knox and Family, and other friends were here through the day, and some young folk came in at night so we had a gay time. I have been very busy with my trade, but it is very slack just now my sister often is away on a visit, to my Uncle Kirk and Aunt Jane's for several weeks, Grandmother is with us now. My brother's wife has another young daughter on the seventh of December. My little sister [Anita?] is going to school and expects to be promoted into the third [?] at Easter. I am glad you had a pleasant time in Scotland. I think when you went to Scotland you might make up your mind, to come to Canada and if you cannot make up mind, why not send Andrew or Aunty. It would be a nice trip next Spring Grandfather and Grandmother's Golden Wedding is the 22nd October 1891 if they both are spared to that time. We never hear a word from Aunt Margret but I will send her a letter and see if she answers this time. Do you ever see her now, Aunt Ann is very poorley [poorly?]. I suppose you hear from John Walker. We have lovely sleighing just now and hope it stays for there is nothing nicer than a sleighride. I suppose you see very little snow in Ireland; well I guess I will have to bring this scribble to a close. Remember me to all friends in Ireland and to Aunty & Andrew. Give my love to all. I remain Mary S Cranston Grandfather weighs 201 lbs he is better now than for a long time |
